What are you really committing to when you say to someone , "I'm praying for you" .............
When you tell someone your praying for them, you are telling them that you care enough to take their petition before God on their behalf.
Your saying that you value them and have compassion for the need that they have.
Your saying that your willing to stand in the gap , to enter into intercession for them.
Your saying you will travail in prayer for them.
If you are not really committed to pray then tell someone their in your thoughts .
God will provide saints that will come along aside them in prayer.
1Tm:2:1: I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
Often waking intercessors in the middle of the late watch of the night to pray for
someone they may have never met.
Col:4:12: Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
And then there is our outstanding example of Jesus our great intercessor.
Heb:7:25: Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
It is a wonderful priviledge to pray , especially for the Family of God.
Eph:6:18: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Good teaching Grammy. Sadly, I don't believe we have as many true (travailing) 'intercessors' as we used to.
Thank you for sharing this.
what an interesting post, it made me think, thanks for that.

@Deb~~
I would say you could be right there are not many true intercessors excercising that gift, but I take courage in the scripture that even in this day of Grace God always has a remnant.
Ro:11:2: God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,
Ro:11:3: Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
Ro:11:4: But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
Ro:11:5: Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
God is so very Faithful. Thanks for your often encouragment Deb;)

Gill~~
Thanks for stopping by. Sometimes I think that we can become so comfortable with the phrasiology of something ie;
( Praying for you )that we really lose sight of what we are committing to do.
To me , prayer is such a beautiful means of communication with the Lord . I personally feel it is a priviledge to pray, especially for the the Family of God.
Blessings, GG
Grammy,
Amen and thank you for the reminder. As a bit of confession here.... Sometimes I feel like Elijah ("I am the only one left..."), and it takes someone to remind me that the Lord is always faithful to reserve a remnant.
Thank you.
@ Deb,
I think we can all get that mind set at times. It is wonderful to find like-minded believers that will come along aside you and encourage us in the faith.
The "Spiritual Visitor" series you and Rose are doing on your blog is awesome, instructive and so sorely needed right now.
I appreciate your giftings and anointing in Christ Jesus sister.
Blessings, GG
Ugh--I've been guilty of that before. Mostly, I am ever mindful NOT to say that I'm praying if I'm not or haven't been, but sometimes I'm guilty of just praying once, versus travailing (when I should be). 'You're in my thoughts', is a much better choice of words, and I will be using it when necessary, so as not to give any reason for false assumption. However, it's always best to travail.
Thanks for sharing this. ((Ella))
(((((Kristi)))) I've missed you sweet sister. I am thankful for the many, many times that you have prayed for me and my family.
It is so good to "see" you.

Joh:13:35: By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
I love this post!
Thank you, GG!
(((Laurie)))....Thank you. Seems to me that prayer is such an beautiful and essential ingredient in our relationship with Christ.
Prayer much like praise ushers us into His presence, and there is no greater place to be than in the presence of God. Whew ! Awesome :-)
