I am so excited that I found my Grandmother's recipe book
Karyn my dear friend @ http://theteakettlecorner.blogspot.com/
prayed her lost prayer and I found it Whoo Hoo.
I use this recipe only at Thanksgiving to make Coconut Custard pie for my Daughter and Plain Custard pie for my sister.
This recipe will make two 9 inch pies. I just make one of them coconut and the other plain
Coconut Custard Pie
1 1/2 Cup Sugar
5 Eggs
4 level tbsp flour
5 tbsp melted butter
4 Cups of Cold milk
Pastry for two 9 inch pies
1 Cup of Coconut -flaked
Combine Sugar, eggs and flour. Add butter and milk . Pour into pie shells . put 1/2 coconut on each pie . ( omit the coconut if your making plain) . Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes , then reduce heat to 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until done. Yield two 9 inch pies.
Blessings, GG

Oh! I could just bury my face in that pie! My husband doesn't eat coconut, so I rarely eat coconut anything :(
Shirley ~~ LOL. That is the beauty of this recipe. It makes two. One coconut for you and one plain for him :)

Wooooohooooo! I am so glad that you found it GG....and the recipe looks awesome!
I am going to make it for Thanksgiving to go with the pumpkin pie.
Thanks grammy, my sweet.

Karyn~~ I was so excited. Hope the Teakettle Clan enjoy this as much as we do. I just sent my Daughter the recipe you had posted for creamed corn. We are going to do that one on T-Day too!
Hugs, GG
Thanks for the receipe. Looks simply delicious! Yum Yum. Blessings...
Jbr~~ It really is a nice custard.
If you like custard you would like this pie:).
Hope you had an awesome time at your gathering yesterday!
Blessings, GG
Oooh, this one sounds fabulous, Grammy ~ and easy, too! It sort of reminds me of the Buttermilk Pie I posted back in the summer sometime.
I'm going to have to give this one a try when we return from our Thanksgiving adventures.
Have you ever tried adding any of the flavor extracts to the plain one? Knowing how this pie tastes, do you think any extracts would be a good addition?
Farmer J~~
I went back to look to make sure I had not missed the Vanilla, but it is not in the recipe. If I were going to add it I would use 1/2 teaspoon of Vanilla .
I did forget to add that I sprinke the top with Nutmeg :)
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Adventure. I'll be praying for travel mercies.
And Happy Anniversary Dear :)
Hugs & Prayers, GG
