Dear Friends,
I am in search of a tried and true recipe for New England Clam Chowder and Manhattan Clam Chowder. I promised my Alianna that Grammy-Goo would make her Claim Chowder when she goes back to School. ( It felt like Fall here today )
The kids return to school on Wednesday and I still have not found my recipe for either of these chowders.
I suppose I could look one up, but if any of you would be willing to share one that you have and love , I would much prefer that .
Thanks ..............................

Heeding the Warnings...............
I spent the most beautiful day with my husband yesterday . Travelling throughout the New England states along the Coastal Route 1 A. The sky was sparkling blue., big white puffy clouds. The ocean, was fierce, foaming and forceful.
All eyes were on Hurricane Bill in the Atlantic waters through-out last week.
It has been a while since New England has suffered a major storm and so when the forecasters and meteorologist said it was going well off shore, we believed it.
And indeed it did pass over 100 miles off our coast.
However, the "experts" also gave a warning! Do not go in the water !
As my husband and I drove along the coast , we saw thousands of people gathered along seawalls and breakers and lawns watching the ocean rage.
What was astonishing to me, was that there were people in the ocean. Swimming , surfing and standing on Rocks all along the beach where the water would break.
Making our way up the coast from Massachusetts, my husband and I stopped along some of our favorite places.
When we arrive in Maine later in the afternoon. Portions of the length of the Beach were closed this is a boulevard that runs along the Ocean in York , Maine. Long Sands beach specifically.
My husband parked along the barrier wall and went to get us some subs from a little place we like there. As I waited for him at the car and looked out at the ocean.
I was reminded of the Magnitude of God.
Parked in front of us was a woman , and with her a young girl I assumed was her daughter. As I leaned against my vehicle watching the ocean , I acknowledged her with a nod, she did the same.
Within a matter of seconds, the little girl, no more than 8 or 9 came bounding from the car.
She was rapidly descending the rocks to get onto the beach. I watched in horror that "Mom" would allow her to be put in danger that way.
Before my mind could process the thought , my husband was coming with our sandwiches and we were moving along.
I looked back I saw several people in the waters . I also saw the warning flags up and blowing in the increasing winds. We continued travelling up the coast and saw the same scene repeated all along the way. Warning flags up and people not heeding the warning.............
We arrived home late last night, just in time to catch the evening news .
I got a cold water from the fridge and plopped down in my favorite spot and heard the Anchorwoman reporting the death of two in the coastal waters of Maine.
It hit me like a ton of bricks. How awful, how tragic and how unnecessary.........completely avoidable had they heeded the warnings.
Today in thinking about this scenario, I thought how that can happen to us as God's people.
Not heeding the warnings of God's Precious Holy Spirit. Not listening to the nudge in our spirit warning us not to go there, not to do that , don't enter into that agreement., don't go down that road.
Whether we believe it or not there are lots of "ifs" in God's word. And there are plenty of warnings in black and white and red.
To keep us from destruction.
Heb:3:7: Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
Heb:3:8: Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
Heb:3:9: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
Heb:3:10: Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
Heb:3:11: So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
Heb:3:12: Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Heb:3:13: But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Praying I "hear" what the spirit of God is speaking, and heed His warnings.

Intercessory Prayer

What is it ?
Merriam - Webster defines it this way
Main Entry: in·ter·ces·sion
Pronunciation: \ˌin-tər-'se-shən\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Middle French or Latin; Middle French, from Latin intercession-, intercessio, from intercedere
Date: 15th century
1 : the act of interceding2 : prayer, petition, or entreaty in favor of another
Intercession is not just praying for someone else's needs. It is praying believing that God would step in and intervene on the behalf of some specific other person or circumstance.
It is trusting and believing that God will act, even if it's not in the manner or timing we seek. God wants us to ask, even urgently. It is casting our limitations before God's power.
INTERCESSION IN THE BIBLE- Old Testament
Abraham interceded for his neighbors in Sodom.
Moses interceded for the Hebrew people.
Habakkuk asks God to act against injustice
Isaiah prayed with King Hezekiah to save Israel from destruction at the hand of the Assyrians.
Nehemiah petitioned God regarding the rebuilding of Jerusalem
Abraham interceded for his neighbors in Sodom.

Isaiah prayed with King Hezekiah to save Israel from destruction at the hand of the Assyrians.
Nehemiah petitioned God regarding the rebuilding of Jerusalem
INTERCESSION IN THE BIBLE- New Testament
Jesus was the most excellent example of an intercessor. He interceded in prayer that for His followers.
Stephen interceded on behalf of those that martyred him .
Apostle Paul prayed continually for the early church
Epaphras wrestled in prayer for the Church in Colossae .
Contrary to some teaching I recently have heard, indicating that it was almost offensive to God for us to “labor” or “travail” in prayer. The old timers and the early church understood "laboring" in prayer. What has happened to us. We want a faith-filled, drive-thru, answer by the time I get to the window prayer life.
The early church was a praying church :
They prayed for travel mercies.
They prayed that people might come to Christ through their witness
They prayed for healing and health .
They prayed for wisdom
They prayed spiritual growth
They prayed. They prayed for others and not just themselves.
They prayed for their political leaders , even the ones that wanted to kill them.
Lord Jesus, that we would find a place of prayer. That we would in our private time with God be yielding to His Spirit .
The Spirit leads us to pray . When we allow the love of God to move upon our heart and spirit we just may find our prayer time becoming a time of intercession.
Asking God to strengthen, heal, save, protect, or bless someone other than ourselves.
Bearing each other's burden's
The more times we come before God in surrender in prayer the more we become “seasoned ” in prayer. God still hears, and answers.

Fish Chowder .......................for Anni

My littlest Grand-daughter is requesting I make her some Clam Chowder. I have only found a hand-full of recipes since I have moved and I have boxes and boxes of books still packed. I cannot find my Clam Chowder recipe, but what I did find was my Grandmothers recipe for
New England Fish Chowder
FISH CHOWDER
4-5 lbs haddock or cod ( I prefer haddock)
2 quarts of fish stock
1/4 lb. bacon fried crispy
6 onions, thinly sliced
3-5 cloves garlic, minced
1 or 2 lbs. corn can be fresh on the cob, frozen or 2 cans of whole kernel
and 1 can of creamed
2-3 tablespoons flour
6 large potatoes, peeled and diced
2 cups celery, minced
1 cup of carrot , minced
6 cups milk, scalded
6 tablespoons butter
1 cup cream
salt and pepper, to taste
4 tablespoons fresh parsley, minced
2 tablespoons fresh chives, minced
2 tablespoons of fresh dill , minced
In a heavy pan ( dutch oven ) , fry bacon over low heat; turn to medium high heat until crispy. Add and lightly brown the onions; stir in garlic and saute for 2 minutes over medium heat. Add flour and pour in fish stock, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Add potatoes, onions, celery , carrots and corn.
Cover and simmer over low heat for 45- 60 minutes or until potatoes and corn and carrots ( if using fresh ) become tender. Add fish and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes.
Lastly stir in the cream and cook an additional 10-15 minutes.
Serve with oyster crackers or crusty bread
Chowder is better the next day, after it has refrigerated overnight.

****Summer-Fun Post ******GiGi's Radishes ...................

GiGi.............. My Mom. Is craving Radishes. She loves them.
So the children and I are planting several containers of them for her and placing them on her deck where she can see them grow with all the other plants , flowers and veggies we put on her deck for her!
GiGi is bed-bound for the most part, but she is the Matriarch of our family , still vital and still contributing to the daily activities of the household.
She is a Faith filled woman of God. I admire the strength and courage that God has put in her heart and spirit !
WE love being back "home" with the family.
It is not everyone that is cut out for Multi-family, Multi-generational living, but we thrive in it.

Keep your eye on the prize..............
1Co:9:24: Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
In my quiet time with the Lord late last evening and very early this morning, it seemed to me as though the Holy Spirit continued to emphasise to me............Stay focused. Keep your eye on the prize ............
I have had a sense of urgency within my spirit to be alert and vigilant , to be focused, awake and prepared. So many in the Body of Christ , the Family of God seem to be hearing and sensing the very same thing. I am fully convinced that there are no coincidences in Christ. Therefore, I am concluding it is the precious Spirit of God speaking to our hearts and minds to be ready.
Something that has disturbed me and troubled me to my very core , is that while there are a group of the Family of God hearing the urgent cry of the Lord. There is also a complacency going on with people who name the Name of Christ.
I, along with my husband, have been a student of eschatology ( end-time events )for twenty-five years .
In a recent discussion with a friend of mine, I brought up a major end-time prophecy that is being fulfilled and they just looked at me blank. I thought ...........OK , maybe they did not hear me . Let me tell them again.
Finally a response came......... " You know Ella, all that end-time stuff is really kinda depressing, what we really should be focused on is the Kingdom" .
After I reconnected my jaw and was able to reply.
I responded ...... I guess it could be depressing if you did not know that soon .............The kingdoms of this world are to become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
We smiled at each other and hugged and went in different directions and I thought wow..................... This is a person that I have talked with over the years about bible prophecy and the exciting events merging together that point to the return of our Lord.
When did we begin to think that talking about Bible Prophecy was depressing, when did end-time events become "unfashionable" to preach, teach or talk about????
If this was the only kind of discussion I had like this I would have brushed it off as just the individual, but I am hearing it over and over and over in discussions with all kinds of people. Some of whom actually taught me about end-time events.
I am beginning to see a distrubing trend toward a turning away of biblical truth and doctrine and an embracing of a liberal, social gospel which is really no gospel at all. But, then again that is prophetic.
As for me and my house, we are doing what the Lord said.............................
Lu:21:28: And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
Hugs & Prayers, GG

Friday -July 10, 2009 - A time of prayer and fasting.
Dear Friends,
If you feel led of God , would you like to join me in a time of prayer and fasting Friday, July 10th 2009.
I will be in prayer for my family and all of your families .
In the past several weeks I have received several specific family prayer requests .
Lots of financial needs, many physical and emotional needs.
Believers praying for the salvation of their households . I have several groups of friends that are a core group of intercessors that I pray with regularly they will be joinging in as well.
I am fasting "food" from early am this Thursday July 9, 2009 at midnight until 5:00 p.m. on Friday July 10, 2009 .
Some of my family are also fasting and are doing 1/2 a day fast .
Some are able to fast a meal.
Some fast until 5:00 pm but will have fruit juices. If you feel lead of God to join in
that is awesome.
Praying for God's Protection, Provision and Direction for our family in this season.
God is Faithful. I often, while in fasting am much more aware of God's presence . I am aware that I am fasting for a specific reason and in obedience to God's Word.
On my blog here under "God's Word/Faith" is a post from the last corporate fast I posted about in May. It has scripture references and some commonsense instructions about respecting your body in a fast .
Hugs & Prayers,
GG

Cha Cha Cha Changes...................
Hi Dear Friends............ It has been non-stop around here!!!!
DH and I are moving back to the family homestead. So we are giving up the roof-top garden and tons of closet space.
Gaining daily Mulit-family, Mutli-generational living with 4 generations of our family all together here.
We are happy about the move and feel it is the Lord , the season we are in is uncertain, but God is always in control.
And after prayer and fasting , pieces lined up for us to return. It almost seems like we have never left ! It is a good feeling.
Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable Independance day !!

Up on the Roof ................
This is quickly becoming my very favorite spot in the entire house !
When I park my car in the driveway and look up toward the roof line I can see all the tomato, the ferns, houseplants, lettuce and squash .
Dh is debating about putting a railing around the perimeter. I just stay right in the little square of my carpet and I am good !

I got a little bird bath for up there and a bird feeder that I am going to ask DH to put up for me
A quiet place this summer. All along the perimeter I am going to put my herbs that are all in window boxes right now , that will help establish a border too !
What projects are you working on this summer?
Blessings, GG

The Fluffernutter..........A New England Classic
Marshmallow Fluff was invented in Somerville, Ma .
A little Fluff trivia for ya.
Fluff is 50% sugar.........could explain all the obesity and dental bills.
But we loved it. I still do. It is one of those comfort food things.
It is 10:29 pm on a Sunday evening and we are just getting back from a long day and what did I just make..............My old pal . Fluffernutter.
Unfortunately I did I know we were out of bread. Hesitating to go to the market , procrastinating is more like it .
But thank goodness in the bread box was some wonderfully fresh
Hot dog rolls and they worked just fine. Finished my treat and and sipping on my sweet , hot Lipton tea before I turn out the lights.
Blessings, GG

I love old things..............
I love to decorate using Old things and New. Some of the things that I cherish the most would seem like junk to most people. For some reason I am almost drawn to what other's would consider useless.

I love to take things that seem to have very little value and place them among things that have a great deal of value.
When it is all finished. They all seem to be of equal worth to me.............And just lovely. In my eyes.
Jas:2:1: My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.Jas:2:2: For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;Jas:2:3: And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:Jas:2:4: Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?Jas:2:5: Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

Finding Peace in the presence of God
So many people have recently spoken about being unsettled, anxious, having feelings of restlessness. I have experienced this myself on numerous occasions, and most of the time my relief comes from abiding in the presence of God .
Often times when we have these "stress" , "anxious", "panicky" episodes we may find it difficult to read God's word or to come into his presence in prayer. Sometimes there may be a "feeling" of heaviness /sadness/hopelessness. It is not uncommon to have these thoughts or feelings. And you are not alone. It is not uncommon! But God's gives us promises ........
1Pe:5:10: But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
Pray.........
It is a spiritual weapon and a beautiful way to come into our Heavenly Father's presence. If you are unsure what to pray....pray in the Spirit and then pray in your understanding....
Ro:8:26: Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Pray with your Prayer Partner and ask other believers to pray for you concerns too !
De:32:30: How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?
Jas:5:16: Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
IF these feelings persist...............Speak to your Pastor. God has put him in place in the Body to care for the sheep.
If you do not have a Pastor at this time......Speak to a Brother or Sister in the Lord who is mature and can give you Godly counsel . Seek out Fellowship with like-minded believers.

We need to adjust our focus.
Someways to change the atmosphere or climate within your spirit or home is to ...................
Put on Praise Music .........
Play Praise and Worship in your home .
Isa:61:3: To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
Listen to God's Word.........
You can pick up cd's at the dollar tree in our area of the entire new testament for $1.00 or cds of the individual books of the bible. Play it in you home so that the Word is going forth. You can't ever get too much of God's Word.
Psalms:119:105: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Proverb:30:5: Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Heb:4:12: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

English Ivy...........Verigated
Examining all of the foliage and plants and shrubs, trees, flower beds, around and about this old house is a lot of fun.
Recently while we were planting new Juniper and Holly and upon closer investigation .........
I found around the entire perimeter of the granite foundation ...........English Ivy.
Lots and Lots of it. I love bringing the outdoors in and this will make it's way into the house by the fall.
This is what I rescued from and area that will become a new planting bed. I just love it

Today............
Thanking the Lord Jesus for His precious Holy Spirit.
How refreshing and calming it is to be in a time set apart to spend with the Lord.
Today's time of prayer and fasting spoke volumes to my heart and spirit. There are so many "voices" in competition for our time , our attention and devotion. I was especially aware of the voice of the Spirit today. And how important it is to be led by the Spirit of God. God's Spirit is not loud and boisterous.
Joh:3:8: The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
There are so many "distractions" that would keep us from hearing the still small voice of God.
Like the story of the prophet Elijah........in 1st Kings 19 .........
1Ki:19:11: And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
1Ki:19:12: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
Mountain tearing, Earthquakes , Fires burning. But the Lord was not in them.
Pig Flu's, Famines, Supreme Court Appointee's.............
Listen and be led by the still small voice of God's precious Holy Spirit . For the battle is the Lord's .
1Sa:17:47: And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give you into our hands.

A time of Prayer and Fasting -Friday May 1, 2009
Dear Friends,
If you feel led of God would you like to join me in a time of prayer and fasting Friday May 1, 2009.
I am fasting "food" from early am this Thursday April 30, 2009 at midnight until 5:00 p.m. on Friday May 1, 2009 .
Some of my family are also fasting and are doing 1/2 a day fast . Some are able to fast a meal.
Some fast until 5:00 pm but will have fruit juices.
If you feel lead of God to join in that is awesome.
Praying for God's Protection, Provision and Direction for our family in thjs season.
God is Faithful.
I often, while in fasting am much more aware of God's presence . I am aware that I am fasting for a specific reason and in obedience to God's Word.
There can be several reasons why we fast and this is in no way an complete study on the subject of "Fasting".
But is just my personal opinion and thoughts on the matter.
I have been a Christian for close to thirty years and never realized the importance of fasting. And had never seen the results I had seen in my prayer life until our Pastor did an extensive study on it in January of 1998. At that time our Church was in a "corporate fast ", the entire Body of believers that were able .
For up to eight days as each member was lead and able. As a church we were fasting seeking God's face for our nation , our church , the Church leadership and for our evangelistic efforts in the coming year. The results were incredible. And I became persuaded of the power of God through prayer and fasting.
There are several reasons we may fast, We fast in obedience to God's Word.
Joel:2:12: Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
2Co:6:4: But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,2Co:6:5: In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;2Co:6:6: By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,
M't:9:15: And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.
We fast to humble ourselves before God and obtain His grace and power . We fast in times of crisis:
Es:4:15: Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,Es:4:16: Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish. We fast seeking God's direction.
Ezr:8:21: Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.Ezr:8:22: For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him. Ezr:8:23: So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.
We fast for understanding and revelation .
Jer:36:6: Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD's house upon the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.
So there are many reasons to fast.
Knowing that God is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him, I felt led in my heart to fast and pray for our families.
Dear Friends ,Just a word about respecting our bodies during a fast.
If you are pregnant or nursing or have a medical condition that would prevent you from not having "solid" food. Use common sense and respect your body.
In general, most people can go one day or 1/2 a day without food , if they are having water, fruit juice or vegetable juices to supplement. If you must eat "solids" , perhaps you could commit to limiting your food intake to salad or vegetables.
These are all pleasing to the Lord as we are looking to Glorify God , putting the Lord first and our appetite second. Also remember if during the fast you become extremely nauseous, light headed or dizzy to please get something to eat and/or drink.
Friends if you have a prayer request, spoken or unspoken and you would like us to pray, it does not need to contain much detail. Leave a comment and we will take it before God .

In the past several weeks I have received several specific family prayer requests . Lots of financial needs, many physical and emotional needs. Believers praying for the salvation of their households .
I have several groups of friends that are a core group of intercessors that I pray with regularly they will be joinging in as well.
Respecting our Bodies in a Fast
Hugs & Prayers, GG
