Personal Evangelism ....Sharing our Faith

I got to thinking yesterday about the many opportunities that the Lord gives us to share our faith.

I know some people struggle in this area. I never really did, as young girl ( was saved when I was a teenager) many moons ago.

I wanted everyone to know about Jesus!!.
One of my favorite places to go was to the Christian Book store to buy tracks and if I could save $30.00 I could get a case of Black NIV Bibles. Whoo Hoo!

I'd spend days just taking the bus back and forth across the city dropping tracks, talking about Jesus and giving out Bibles to anyone that asked Him to be their Lord and Saviour. I loved it .

As I got older and spent some time in corporate America I realized not everyone wanted to "talk" about Jesus. Everyone knew I was a "Christian", and if they had family problems or illnesses they would come and ask me to pray for them.

Several of my co-workers came to Christ over the years. The most significant was when Rita ( my first boss) developed bone cancer. By that time we had both left our jobs at this company. Rita's cancer progressed fast. I knew Rita was a 'religious' lady, but I was not sure in my heart that she knew Jesus as her Lord. We had talked about God and religious "things". For years I talked to her about a relationship with Jesus.

I loved this lady like another Mother, she was just a kind-hearted woman. Always wonderful to me. She made sure the years I worked I never missed a program the children we doing , never a play, never missed one thing the children had at school.

It was a Saturday morning and I was doing dishes and Rita had been in the hospital a couple of days and I had such a sense of urgency to go see her immediately in the hospital. I remember going quickly into the Living room, and telling John I needed to go see Rita right away.

I left for the hospital and found Rita listening to "old" songs on a little radio in her room. Her husband Bob had died the year before. As soon as I entered her room I was overcome with emotion.

Literally sobbing, I just loved her so much and knew she was not ready to go home. She held my hand trying to comfort me. My dear friend , that was so like her.

After small Chit-chat , I got up to leave never having told Rita why I was really there, never telling her I knew God sent me there to share the gospel with her once again. I got up kissed her check and tenderly hugged her frail body. I knew she would not be with us long. I quietly left her room .

As I got directly outside her room , I was racked with sobbing I could just not control. My dear friend, I loved her so much, I had failed her , I had not shared Jesus with her. I didn't want her to think I thought she wasn't going to heaven, I was scared to face this eternal question with her when I knew she was at deaths door. I never felt so empty.

As these thoughts whirled about in my head I heard the faint sound of crying coming from Rita's room. It was her. Quietly crying. I do not know how quickly it happened , but the next thing was I found myself beside her bed telling her how much I loved her and what an inspiration she had been in the life's of so many people and that now was the time to make sure that when she passed from this life she would be received into the loving arms of Jesus.

Both of us were gently sobbing now and Rita prayed with me and asked Jesus to come into her heart and life and to be her Lord and her Savior.

The room became full of the peace of God that passes all understanding. I knew without a doubt that Jesus was there and that He heard Rita's prayer and He had saved her. We stay for quite a while after that just looking at each other , holding each other's hand no words needed.

Two days later at Rita's funeral when the minister was saying . Our Beloved sister Rita is in the arms of Jesus. I knew without a doubt it was true.

Sometimes God sends us. Sometimes it is pretty and sometimes it is not. Sometimes we are the only glimpse of Jesus that someone will see.

Ask God in your prayer time with Him to make you ready to always be able to have the gospel on your lips should God open the door.

Friday January 16th ....A Time of Prayer and Fasting.

Dear Friends,

If you feel led of God would you like to join me in a time of prayer and fasting this Friday. I will be in prayer for my family and all of your families .

As well as several specific family prayer requests I have from friends IRL as well.

I am fasting "food" from early am this Friday January 16th until 5:00 p.m. on Friday January 16th.

Some of my family are also fasting and are doing 1/2 a day fast .

Some are able to fast a meal. Some fast until 5:00 pm but will have fruit juices.

If you feel lead of God to join in that is awesome.

Praying for God's Protection, Provision and Direction for our family in these uncertain times. God is Faithful.

I often, while in fasting am more aware of God's presence . I am aware that I am fasting for a specific reason and in obedience to God's Word.

There can be several reasons why we fast and this is in no way an complete study on the subject of "Fasting". But is just my personal opinion and thoughts on the matter.

I have been a Christian for close to thirty years and never realized the importance of fasting.

And had never seen the results I had seen in my prayer life until our Pastor did an extensive study on it in January of 1998.

At that time our Church was in a "corporate fast ", the entire Body of believers that were able .
For up to eight days as each member was lead and able. As a church we were fasting seeking God's face for our nation , our church , the Church leadership and for our evangelistic efforts in the coming year.

The results were incredible. And I became persuaded of the power of God through prayer and fasting.

There are several reasons we may fast, We fast in obedience to God's Word.

Joel:2:12: Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
2Co:6:4: But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,2Co:6:5: In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
2Co:6:6: By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,
M't:9:15: And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.We fast to humble ourselves before God and obtain His grace and power .

We fast in times of crisis:Es:4:15: Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,Es:4:16: Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

We fast seeking God's direction.Ezr:8:21: Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.Ezr:8:22: For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him. Ezr:8:23: So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us. We fast for understanding and revelation .Jer:36:6: Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD's house upon the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.

So there are many reasons to fast. What quicken in my spirit to ask you all to join me in a one day fast or whatever you feel led to do by the Spirit of God, was the amount of prayer requests regarding our family situations. Knowing that God is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him, I felt led in my heart to fast and pray for our families this Friday. I am a member of a Christian Woman's Forum as "Corporately" several of us fasted in August of 2008 for our families, our nation and our future. The results were wonderful.

Respecting our Bodies in a Fast
Dear Friends ,
Just a word about respecting our bodies during a fast.
If you are pregnant or nursing or have a medical condition that would prevent you from not having "solid" food. Use common sense and respect your body.
In general, most people can go one day or 1/2 a day without food , if they are having water, fruit juice or vegetable juices to supplement. If you must eat "solids" , perhaps you could commit to limiting your food intake to salad or vegetables.
These are all pleasing to the Lord as we are looking to Glorify God , putting the Lord first and our appetite second. Also remember if during the fast you become extremely nauseous, light headed or dizzy to please get something to eat and/or drink.
Friends if you have a prayer request, spoken or unspoken and you would like us to pray. Friday is also the day of the week we come together for our Home Bible Study and we would be happy to pray for your needs. Just leave a comment it does not need to contain much detail. God knows who you are.

Life can be so very short. Those I Love You's, you have been meaning to say. The letters you have been meaning to write. The phone call you keep putting off, The sorry's you think you have time for ......... do today.

Looking Ahead..........Welcome 2009

What a year this has been ..........As a student of prophecy for 20 + years , it has been exciting . On a personal level, I seen God's hand of provision and protection . He is Mighty to keep us in every circumstance and situation.

On a human level, the things we have witnessed in this world in the last year have been staggering.

I am choosing to do what the Apostle Paul states in Phillipians.....................

Ph'p:3:13: Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Good-bye 2008 .................Hello 2009. Thank you Lord Jesus for your Faithfulness!!!!!

The First Storm Arrived

And it packed a pretty good punch . Just about 12 inches of snow where we are which is about 40-50 miles West of Boston.

The 2nd storm should be arriving tomorrow morning and they are predicting it to be worse than this one.
Unfortunately there are still people in our county that are with Heat, Electric and Water.
Many, many shelters have been set up and the local government and linesmen are doing all they can to help restore people's services. But these storms are not helping.

We saw a convoy of Linesmen from Pa, coming into the City yesterday to help and we sure do appreciate it . Pretty as it is , this severe weather can be so devastating.
Praying for those that are without services that they can get back into their homes as soon as possible.
Blessings, GG

Snow, Snow, Snow.........

Well the schools are closed until sometime in January due to the severe Ice Storm that we had last week and now it is snowing. The first of 3 storms to blanket us with snow through Monday.

It is snowing now, with a significant Snow expected on Friday and then again Sunday afternoon.

Our Family Christmas Party is Sunday. Yikes. Now if we could build a little snow mountain in the back yard for the kids to go sledding that would be fun ............lol.

It does look beautiful though.

Ice, Ice , Ice ....................

We are in the middle of a MAJOR ice Storm.......... It is really nasty weather. Everything is basically at a stand-still in the city for now . The Major News Networks are here reporting up the street from us on Bell Hill.
There is literally about an inch of ice encasing everything. The trees, the cars, the rooftops. It really is very pretty like crystal droppings from a chandelier . I really do believe the Lord is the most awesome designer.

For unto us .............

Lu:2:1: And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
Lu:2:2: (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)Lu:2:3: And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
Lu:2:4: And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
Lu:2:5: To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
Lu:2:6: And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
Lu:2:7: And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
Lu:2:8: And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
Lu:2:9: And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
Lu:2:10: And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
Lu:2:11: For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Lu:2:12: And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
Lu:2:13: And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Lu:2:14: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Lu:2:15: And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
Lu:2:16: And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
Lu:2:17: And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
Lu:2:18: And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
Lu:2:19: But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
Lu:2:20: And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

She is adorable

And she is so very easy to make. Same pattern as a Rag Doll , except add the ears. She matches purrfectly with the Hydrangea I picked and dried earlier in the year.

I do not think I will have the time to make any of these for this years Christmas Giving, but for sure next year God-willing.

I think I will add a little canvas prim tag with the scripture :M't:4:19: And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

We've Started

Well, it has begun..............The transforming of the house into the beauty of the "Christmas Season" . We started with the Dining Room table which is usually where I start with every change of the season. My Husband did the entire front of the house late yesterday evening , in the rain, sleet and snow.

The Teddy Bears and Snowmen have burst out of the "Christmas Closet" as well as vintage items. Beautiful Nativity Sets of all types............ I love this season.

We so enjoy lifting up the Name of of Jesus and to try bring Glory to the Lord in all that we do. And it is so awsome to share and practice hospitality as God's Word tells us.

Ro:12:13: Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

My Grams Thanksgiving Turkey Platter

My Grandmother's Thanksgiving Turkey Platters is one of my most treasured items. There are so few things left that I have that were hers.

This is one that I really love. It has taken its bumps and bruises over the years.

Last year when we moved it broke, into several pieces. I have been able to repair it but their is a piece missing in the lower right hand corner. It is noticeable .

But I will still display this wonderful "piece" I have left of my Gram, I will put something over the missing portion and it will be on my buffet this year instead of the table.

With all of it's prestige and honor for all of the lovely , warm , beautiful Thanksgiving memories I have when I look at it.

Friday Evening Bible Study

Most every Friday evening, for almost 12 years now, my husband and I have opened our home for Bible Study and Fellowship.
We as a group of believers sometimes large , often times small, come together in Jesus' Name for prayer, fellowship, praise and to hear the Word of God.
We share a meal together, participate in the Lord's Supper and pray for whoever is sick among us anointing them with oil.
There is a "core" group , who have been here since the beginning . So many have come and gone through the years.
We are thankful to the Lord that we can meet together in His Name and seek His wisdom, direction and strength in this prophetic season that we are in .
Many of our brothers and sisters in the Lord cannot freely come together. We pray for them.
Heb:10:25: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
It is good to be together with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Not just on Sundays , but "so much the more" whenever the Lord opens the door.
If you have a prayer request or need that we can pray about this evening , please feel free to leave a comment and we will take it to the Lord in prayer on your behalf this evening at Bible Study.
In His Love,
GG

The Road Home

This is the road that leads to our new home. It would be the road home. We took my Sister-in-Law and her husband to see our new home yesterday. One of her comments to me was that she loved the road to the home.

It is very country , very picturesque, very Fall in New England................ It got me thinking about our Road home.

Not the road that leads to our homes here. But the Road that leads to heaven. Our Home as believers.

I don't believe that there are many roads. I believe that there is one road. I believe it begins when we encounter the Lord Jesus Christ and he becomes our Personal Lord and Saviour. We begin our walk home with Him.

Sometimes there are bumps in the road, sometimes there are forks in the road, ditches, potholes, tree limbs, road-kill. All designed to cause us to seek an alternate route.

M'r:4:15: And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

But the road that leads to Eternal life is one-way. God's Word tells us :

M't:7:13: Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:M't:7:14: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Jesus is the way . He is the only way.

Joh:14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

No Better Place
Lyrics
Stephen Curtis Chapman

was eight years old when I decided to follow Jesus I started down that road, Somebody told me that this path that leads to heaven Will not be the easy way Well I found that to be true, But I also found, I found out there's No better place on earth than the road that leads to heaven No other place I'd rather be!
No better place on earth than the road that leads to heaven No better place to be!
Well, I know this road has a final destination But I also know that if we're only looking for the prize that's waiting We'll miss so much along the way 'Cause Jesus came to give us life in the here and now and to show us that there's No better place on earth than the road that leads to heaven No other place I'd rather be!
No better place on earth than the road that leads to heaven No better place to be!
I know this path we travel on Is very straight and narrow But I've looked down other roads along the way And from all I've seen I can say without a doubt there's No better place on earth than the road that leads to heaven No other place I'd rather be! No better place on earth than the road that leads to heaven No better place to be!

A Gift

My Husband and I were out yesterday in the country to take pictures of a country home we are praying about buying. And one of our "potential" new neighbors gifted us with these.
They are just lovely and will be on our table this Thanksgiving.
I was reading a past issue of Country Living about 2 months ago and saw very similar ones in the magazine. I had a thought go through my head that they were just beautiful and would be part of my "Dream" Kitchen.
Ph'p:4:8: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
I have a little scrapbook that I have made with lovely things. Things I find pretty , little pictures and recipes, scriptures, flowers my kids, grands or husband has given me and things maybe someday I would like to have. These tureens are in the scrapbook.
I thought to myself driving home yesterday. God is so intricately involved in my daily life that he knows the things that delight my heart, that brings me joy, that calms my spirit, that reassures me of His love, and His peace and presence in my life.
I am so thankful for my relationship with God through my Wonderful Saviour Jesus Christ my Lord.

God is Faithful

1Co:1:9: God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

It is comforting to my Spirit to know .......God is Faithful.
God is in Control!!!!!

I believe that God is calling His people to pray.
The voice of the Spirit of God is beginning to be heard over and over again..........

Pray.Pray.Pray

God has the answers that we are seeking, God has the Blessing, Provision and direction He would have us to go.

If there was ever a time in our history, if there was ever a time to pray , it is now.

God does not change.
Heb:13:8: Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

God's Word speaks to us and tells us :
2Ch:7:14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

2Ch:7:15: Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

My prayer is that as God's Spirit continues to awaken us to prayer that we would be attentive to His prodding and we would submit and surrender to His leading.

The Weapons of our Warfare

The Weapons of our Warfare

The season that we are in , is a season of uncertainty, trials and tribulations. I believe we are in the season of the beginnings of birth pains. The Lord told us that He has not left us alone, nor has He left us unequipped or without weapons for these battles. God’s Word tells us that we have weapons and we have Armour!

2Co:10:4-5 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Our Weapons and our Armour ………..
What is it?
and
How do we use it?
We are given some insight and exhortation in Ephesians and II Corinthians ………….

Eph:6:10: Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Eph:6:11: Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph:6:12: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph:6:13: Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph:6:14: Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph:6:15: And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph:6:16: Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph:6:17: And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Eph:6:18: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Interestingly , there are Seven pieces of Armour and Weapons in this passage of scripture.
Armour is used defensively , ( to protect yourself , to stand against, to deflect an incoming attack.)
Weapons are used offensively ( to charge, to attack, to pull down, to cast down , to take captive )
you need both to have the
“Whole Armour of God”

Ro:13:12: The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

What is the purpose of the Armour of God

1) Eph:6:11: Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

2) Eph:6:13: Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

A)To stand against the wiles of the devil
B) Withstand in the evil day

Armour of God

1) Loins girt about with truth. = defensive

2) Breastplate of righteousness = defensive

3) feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace = offensive

4) Shield of Faith =offensive & defensive

5) Helmet of salvation = defensive

6) Sword of the Spirit /Word of God =offensive

7) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; =offensive

a) Prayer and supplication always in the Spirit
b) Watching with perseverance and supplication

2Co:6:7: By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

I am having an awesome time in studying this topic, and look forward to sharing with you what the Lord has shared and is sharing with me in His word…………………

Fear Not.................

Lu:12:32: Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

1Jo:4:18: There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

It is so comforting to know that God's is in control. So reassuring to me to know that God loves me and he has a plan for my life . God's hand is always in the storms of my life, He is always ever present with me.

I know in my heart that he will never leave me nor will he forsake me. Be encouraged today if you are frightened. God is on the Throne !!!!

The world is in a season of trial and tribulation , birth pains like Jesus describes to us in His word. The word of God describes it as a time unlike any other .

But for those of us that love Him and are called according to His purpose. His word states:

Ro:8:28: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

So in these difficult seasons, in these trials and tribulations, in these days of uncertainty and fear.

We can trust that God is with us :

Psalms:37:19: They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

Psalms:118:17: I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.

De:7:21: Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.

Heb:13:5: Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

2Th:3:3: But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.

God is Faithful.

Having a Voice....................

Having a voice........... After much prayer and thoughtful consideration I have decided to return to blogging and to add my voice to the millions of others that are out there, while this avenue is available. I will utilize it.

I was speaking with a Dear Friend in the past couple of weeks and we talked about having a "Voice" .

In ministering to her, God was ministering to me as well. And so that has actually prompted me to return to this venue and utilize it as a piece of the web that I hope will Glorify God, and lift up the Name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
