Limiting God

Hi All, It has been such a long time since I have been able to blog. My Hard-drive died again, a slow and painful death.

My husband graciously blessed me with a new laptop that will even work when I go to camp this year so I can stay "connected"....

That said, I would like to share with you a poignant experience I had this week . My Aunt Glenda and I went to visit my Auntie Flo, she is in a hospice facility .

She has end stage CHF and Dementia. She does not recognise her family, even her children and grand-children. Auntie Flo never forgot a birthday, or how many kids each of us had and their birthdays too. This past Monday we went to see her.

Her smile has not changed and even though she did not recognise us, she greeted us warmly and with a great big smile.

She always had one of the warmest , loving hearts. Everyone loves Auntie Flo.

We sat with her for quite some time in the day room, hoping to see a glimpse of Auntie Flo. Our Auntie Flo....hoping she would remember us. We had little glimpses when she looked at old pictures I had brought of us when we were younger, but it was clear Auntie Flo's mind was in a different place.

This visit was particularly emotional for my Aunt Glenda who loves her sister-in-law dearly.

We had gone to visit Auntie and also to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with her.

After about ninety minutes had passed, Auntie Glenda looked at me and said ....."How are we going to do this ???" Auntie Flo's cognative function was just not there.

We asked Auntie Flo is we could pray with her, she said "yes." We asked her if she prayed , she said "Yes". We prayed aloud in the day room , holding hands, each of us head bowed and eye's closed. We prayed a simple prayer that went something along these lines.

" Father, we come before you in the Name of Jesus , in agreement in His Name . We lift Auntie Flo up to you Lord Jesus. We ask that you would look upon her heart and see her thoughts, her heart and her mind and her intentions. Lord Jesus,we ask that she would call upon your Name, we commit Auntie Flo into your hands , that she would have eternal life in Christ Jesus and that she would walk with us on streets of Gold in your Kingdom on that day." Lord, please do what only you can. In Jesus' Name ".

When we finished praying, Auntie Flo looked up at us the beautiful smile shining. She put her hands together as if to pray, she put them to her chest and clearly said ....." My Lord" .

The Holy Spirit was there directing all , and it was such a stilling moment. We smiled at Auntie Flo, praising God with her.

I looked at my Aunt Glenda and said .....I think the Lord allowed Auntie Flo to speak these words for our benefit , so we would know .

God knows no limits. No matter how the situation looks or difficult the circumstance may appear. God is bigger , and He has no boundaries. God is Faithful.

Rev 19: 7-8 : Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come , and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that as he should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints.

You know, God continues to astound and amaze me. When people say "How do you know there is a God?" I can so easily say that I see His fingerprints on every aspect of my life. God is so good and I'm so glad that He gave you that peace that He is taking care of your aunt. She looks like such a sweet lady and it's heartbreaking when they are still with us but not "there" anymore. But God can reach the deepest heart - past dementia and any other issues. We've seen that ourselves. God bless you!

Beautiful. And what a wonderful reminder that God looks upon the heart. I am reminded of mark 10:15 and Proverbs 3:5. God isn't a bit concerned over us understanding everything about Him. He just wants our hearts.
Your Aunt is so sweet and so special. What a treasure you have that you've shared your Lord with her.

Beth, Thank you . I love this picture of both of my Aunties. It will be a reminder to me of when Auntie Flo believed on Jesus.

Ann, Thank you. So funny I just wrote on my facebook status before coming here. " God never ceases to AMAZE me " .....
This visit with my Aunt really did reassure me of God's love for her , for each of us, and that God has no limits, he has no boundaries. Ann~ we are praying for you, Lauren, Bob and the family. Watching and praying with you as God opens doors and performs his Word in Lauren's life and Body. What a testimony she will share. Love, hugs and prayers sister.

"God has no limits." Thank you for sharing these words ~ and more importantly, this story ~ with me, Dear Ella.

I find that I am struggling some as my family approaches a very big change in season.

As always, love and prayers for you and your family.
