Is it "Old Fashioned" to send Christmas Cards anymore?
It was a question brought up this morning on a forum I am a member of .
I am a big Christmas Card fan, I love to send Christmas cards .
Has it gone out of vogue? In the age of E-Cards , and digital everything?
Maybe I am from another era. Maybe it is the economy and it is a place were people can cut back .
Is it an unnecessary expense?
What do you think?

I send approx. 40 Christmas cards every year. So for me it's the same as it was many years ago. I love to send and receive Christmas cards.......

So funny Gill, after I did this blog post and got the mail today there were a handful of cards. I am a card sender still. I love to send them, and love to receive them.

I love Christmas cards. From the stickers on the outside, the hand-written addresses that speak of such thoughtfulness, and the colors and feel of the envelopes - to the choice of verse and picture on the card - to the sparkles that fall off in your hands and the embossed feel of the cards - to the loving signatures that say, "I am thinking about you."
No. Although there is a rise in E-cards - nothing can replace the 'feel' of a real Christmas card and the excitement one feels when the open the mailbox to find them there.

I'm with you!
You can't put an E-card on the Mantle either.

I used to send cards. When we got so few in return, I realized it didn't matter to those in my circle. It seemed just one more thing to do during a busy time of year and since cards didn't seem to matter to others...I dropped it.
I still send cards to those out of town family we don't see often. It's a way of keeping in touch.
I think that may be happening in my circle too parsley. Guess I am old and sentimental....But I love Christmas Cards. I even collect old vintage ones. I think they are so pretty! Like the one in the picture, courtesy of the Grapics Fairy.....

Ella, I think they are not as popular for a myriad of reasons. People don't "correspond" any more. It's all eletronic, but I love Christmas cards too!
Merry Christmas!

Me too Rose, It is like a little present of your time. When we were growing up we were taught to write out thank you cards for gifts and thoughtful deeds. To send thinking of you cards, Anniversary etc. I think the Electric age has a lot to do with it.
Merry Christmas ,
GG
I'm happy to receive them, no matter their means of getting to me.
One of my favorite things about the Christmas/holiday/end-of-year season is checking in with valued friends. So...my vote is for Christmas cards! E-cards are nice, too, but there's nothing like a good old-fashioned paper card in the mailbox!
