Meet Rose .............

This is Rose…..She is part of a collection of Victorian Dolls from Ashton Drake Galleries that I have had for some time now.

I thinks she is stunning. She makes an appearance at my house for a couple of weeks a year at Christmas time to sit in the Living Room with all things Victorian…..

I have been thinking about trying to “purge/scale-down/lighten the load recently.
I have gone through boxes of Depression glass and Angels of every kind, boxes of Americana /Prims and Raggedy Ann‘s.
Milk Glass and Restaurant ware. Teddy Bears and Teacups……..

I am so attached to this stuff….Some of it I only see once a year, and then , I am like a child at Christmas, excitedly unwrapping ………..whatever treasure I have taken out .
My husband indulges me in this “collecting” …..
He has his collections too !Greasy tools, empty 5-gallon dry-wall buckets, half-dried high-lighters, his collections of half-empty caulking tubes…….

I was vacuuming the living-room last night and saw a new show advertised The subject is “Hoarding”……I was horrified ………People trapped in their houses surrounded by all this “Stuff”….
It was a mini awakening….A reminder to make sure I am continually examining my heart , thoughts and attitudes to align them to God’s Word.

I am going to be working on downsizing and lightening the load of stuff , I am carrying around. In my heart and in my home.

Love in Christ, Ella

I have seen the same 'hoarding' show and I know many who struggle with the pack-rat syndrome.

I don't really care about keeping everything I've ever owned but my husband does. EEK!

Once again you are so good at pin-pointing the lesson to the heart!
Thanks for this reminder to examine yourselves in the light of God's Word and mind for us so that we can 'lay aside every weight'.

That was exactly how I felt watching that commerical. I am ever so thankful that God speaks so simply to me.

Loved you post.
But I see you do not
appreciate some of
our good stuff. You
know. Like your
husband's stuff.
KEEP IT UP.

I have the opposite problem. I get rid of stuff that I regret sometimes down the road.

I've done that too! Especially during one of my Mega purges where the traffic to our house of free-cyclers, and craigslisters has to be detoured lol.

Rose is just beautiful, Ella. Good luck in your purging. I've seen short clippings of that show about hoarding, and I don't really think you could ever fall into that category, Dear One.

No I don't think I am at that point, but there was a little nudge of the Holy Spirit to set my affections on things above ....kwim .

I can be guilty of this. But, I think a lot of it is motivation. Appreciate the post in examining ones heart. Blessings.

Oh GG,
I know well what you're going through. When my father-in-law died in 1999, we learned how relationship and sentiment put great value on even worthless things. And he had a ton of that kind of stuff.
After dealing with his estate, we decided that we'd try to occasionally clean-out our clutter so that no one else would have to go through that for us.
Alas, when we get rid of old collected stuff, we tend to find ourselves overwhelmed with new collections. lol Working on this (with the leading of the Holy Spirit).
I love the doll - by the way. One day when my granddaughter is older, I'd like to start a collection for her. OOooops - did I say that????

LOL .....My collections would be very lovely .....if, I had a huge New England farm-house or a Beautiful B&B.....Neither do I see on the horizon anything soon ...
My little Grands are "collector's" too, my littlest girl collects anything "little" mini anything and she loves it ...

My oldest is collecting comics and has quite a few,

DD loves Christmas ornament as I do and I stated her collection of "Christmas Village " pieces.

I am seriously spending the day donating so we will see how that goes!
